Shefford Craft Group

* Have you a piece of tapestry/knitting/embroidery sitting about the house waiting to be finished?

* Have you always wanted to try your hand at painting?

* Would love to be able to arrange flowers but don’t have a clue?

* Are you looking for a new creative hobby but not sure what?

* Do you want to meet new people with an interest in art and crafts?

If the answer to any of the above is ‘yes’ come along, have a coffee and see if we can inspire you. Some of the talents of our group are in:- flower arranging, painting with watercolours and acrylic, jewellery making, knitting, crochet, making greetings cards using various techniques, embroidery including silk ribbon, tapestry and traditional, creative textiles, candle making, spinning, etc.

We are a very friendly, informal group who meet every Friday from 9.30a.m. to 12 noon at Great Shefford Village Hall and once a month we have demonstrations which have included:-

the art of using pastels, paper-making, producing pictures from fabrics and other mediums, weaving bark to make bowls/boxes, card making using the pricking method, acrylic and water colour painting techniques and silk painting.

There are many other art and craft techniques we hope to explore, e.g:-

Chinese brush painting, how to make silk ribbon roses, Christmas flower arrangements, glass painting, decorative bottles, origami boxes ….. and much more.

We have produced items for flower festivals, embroidered wall hangings, organized craft events and we arrange trips to craft fairs, silk mills and the like.

If you feel you would like to ‘have a go’ at any of the above, or have a talent you could share with us, we would be delighted to see you. If would like more information, please ring Beryl Jones on 01488 648889 or Alma Dawkins on 01488 648833 and we will be only too pleased to have a chat.
